Meet Shorty

The story begins in 1920, when Clarence Bourdaghs (Shorty to those who knew him) opened Minnesota Cleaners and Dryers with his father. After gaining twelve years of experience, Shorty opened his own business, Shorty Cleaner Launderer, in 1932. Following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps, Shorty's son John became a certified cleaner in 1960 and bought the business from Shorty in 1966.

Fourth generation family member and current co-owner of Shorty Cleaner Launderer, Joleen Bourdaghs has been involved in the family business since she was a little girl. At the age of 10 she began helping her dad at the cleaners and later, in 1980, began working at the business full time as a presser.

That same year, co-owner Carol Eggers was recruited by John while she worked at the local drugstore. 17 years later, in 1998, Joleen and Carol, possessing a common work ethic and appreciation of the business, became co-owners of Shorty Cleaner Launderer. The legacy continues with the most recent addition of Carol's daughter Maria assuming the position of the store manager.
